FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
PARENTING FAQ's
1. What age is WanderShield designed for?
WanderShield was created for the little explorers who keep us on our toes—generally toddlers through early elementary age. If your child loves to wander just far enough to make your heart rate jump, this is who we built it for. We wanted our son to roam confidently without drifting out of sight, and that’s the experience we’re designing for other families too.
2. Will the bracelet bother my child?
The bracelet is soft, lightweight, and screen-free. As parents, we know if something feels bulky or “itchy,” it won’t last long. So comfort was a non-negotiable from day one.
3. Can I use one parent bracelet with two kids?
Right now, WanderShield works as a one-to-one connection: one parent device paired with one child device for the most accurate, reliable alerts.
That said, we know many families have more than one tiny adventurer. Multi-child support is something we’re actively exploring for future versions because parents deserve simple tools that work for all their kids.
4. What environments is WanderShield best for?
Anywhere real life happens. Parks, playgrounds, hikes, festivals, zoos, grocery stores, vacations—those everyday moments where kids get curious and adults get stretched thin. If your child wanders, WanderShield is designed to help you stay calmly connected.
5. Why choose WanderShield over Air Tags or smartwatches?
AirTags and GPS trackers tell you where your child went AFTER they’re already gone. Smartwatches come with screens, apps, and distractions that most young kids don’t need.
WanderShield is different: it gives a gentle cue BEFORE your child gets too far, so you can stay present instead of monitoring a map. It’s simple, quiet, and built intentionally for the early years.
TECH FAQ's
1. Does WanderShield use GPS?
No. WanderShield doesn’t track, map, or store your child’s location. As parents, we didn’t want another device broadcasting our son’s information or building a location history in the cloud.
Instead, WanderShield uses local proximity sensing—just a simple, private connection between the parent and child devices. When the distance becomes too large, you get a gentle cue. No maps. No surveillance. No data trail.
2. How accurate is the proximity sensing?
WanderShield is being built for real family environments—parks, playgrounds, crowded festivals, grocery stores, zoos, and even indoors where GPS often fails. Because we’re using proximity sensing instead of satellites, WanderShield responds to the actual distance between you and your child, not whether you have a clear view of the sky. It’s designed to work where parenting actually happens.
3. What happens if the connection is lost?
If the signal weakens or gets interrupted, both the kid and parent devices gives a gentle vibration to let both of you know your child may be moving out of range. As parents ourselves, we wanted a system that errs on the side of awareness—so you never have that “wait, where did they go?” moment.
4. Does it require a phone, app, or data plan?
You don’t need a smartphone, an app, a login, or a subscription. The devices talk directly to each other—nothing extra to manage, and nothing for your child to tap, swipe, or accidentally change.
5. Is my family’s information stored anywhere?
No. WanderShield is privacy-first by design. It doesn’t collect or save personal data, and it doesn’t send anything to the cloud.
Everything happens locally, stays on your devices, and disappears the moment you power them off. As parents, we cared deeply about building something safe not just physically, but digitally too.
